The Sacrament of Reconcilation (also called confession) confers the forgiveness of sins to penitants who confess their sins to a priest. It is called the sacrament of reconciliation becuase it reconciles the sinner to communion with God and the Church. The sacrament is an encounter with the merciful love of the savior.
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest."
