How God Uses Us to Bring Others to Him

Eli said to Samuel, “Go to sleep, and if you are called, reply, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” 1 Sam 3:9.

In the first reading this Sunday, Samuel, a servant to Eli, receives three calls from the Lord in his sleep. Because he did not yet know the Lord, he assumed it was Eli calling out to him. Eli realizes that the voice Samuel hears is the Lord, so he assists Eli in opening his ears to hear God’s call.

Who has helped you in the past to hear and then respond to God’s call?

In our Gospel today, Andrew was one of the two disciples with John when Jesus walked by. John says “Behold the Lamb of God”. He then follows Jesus. After he decides to follow Jesus, he first goes to find his brother, Simon, to invite him to join he and the other disciples in following Jesus.
