Bertica (Tiki) was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She has been a Roman Catholic since birth and a parishioner at St. Timothy Catholic Church since the fall of 1985, when she arrived in Arizona. Having been a single mother, she is deeply grateful to the support she received at St. Timothy’s while her son and daughter were children and adolescents, and credits their strong faith (as well as hers), to the teachings they received growing up in this parish — so inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Bertica is a professional artist (oil painter) as well as a graphic designer and is presently teaching art to students in grades K-8 at Saint Theresa Catholic School in Phoenix.
At Saint Timothy’s, she has assisted the Public Relations department with art and design projects and has been involved in several ministries which include Confirmation, Parish Welcoming, LifeTeen, Prison Ministry, Pro-Life, ALIVE retreats and Art and Environment. She served in the Pastoral Council (2011-2014) with Fr. Charlie Goraieb and was elected president during her third year. She is currently a member of the Stewardship Council, a Lector, and an Extraordinary Minister.
