OCIA stand for Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (formally RCIA - same process, new name), which a fancy way of saying, the process for joining the Church and preparing for baptism, confirmation, and communion.
Our Youth track of OCIA offers youth (age 8/grade 3 and above) who desire to be brought into full communion with the Catholic Church the time and environment to be formed in the teachings and practices of Catholicism, and so prepare them for the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and communion.
Family OCIA has 3 components:
Weekly ministry: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (age 3-5th grade), Edge (grades 6-8) or Life Teen (grades 9-12)...click each ministry name to learn more & get registered
Saturday Sessions (a parent/grandparent/godparent/sponsor should attend each Saturday session with the youth); 9:15am-11am
Retreat...separate registration required for each retreat
Life Teen - option of November 8-10 or March14-16 (@ Prescott)
Edge - February 1-2 (@ Lake Pleasant)
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd - April 25-26 or May 2-3 (@ St. Timothy's)
Those who will be baptized will receive all sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday, April 19th. Those already baptized who will receive Confirmation + First Communion will do so at a special mass (date TBD, tentatively a Saturday afternoon in May)
