We had heard of "endowments" before but always thought they were for rich people and big institutions (like Harvard or Yale etc.). But we came to understand, from Deacon James Carbajal, that endowments can be for anything that we want to last, to continue functioning far into the future. We came to understand that any contribution, even small ones like ours, could grow over time and make a difference in the near and especially far future.
We came to St. Timothy's 45 years ago, and raised 3 children here. We now have a tw0 year old granddaughter who lives near the parish and we want to have Edge and Life Teen for her spiritual development and a good academic school with Catholic morals should her parents decide that St. Timothy School is right for her.
So, in addition to our regular giving to St. Timothy's, we decided to find the money for a small additional contribution to both the church and school endowments every year so that both will be available to the next generation when we are older and after we are gone. We were also delighted to learn that 100% of our contribution goes to the church and school and is not taxed by the Diocese like our regular contributions are. We want St. Timothy's parish, and school to be available to future generations.
