The Eucharist is "the source and summit of the Christian life."(Lumen Gentium, 11). The Catholic Church believes that under the signs of bread and wine the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ is really and substanially present. The faithful recieving the Body and Blood in communion are united to Christ and each other.
"I am the living bread came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." (John 6:51)
If you wish to recieve the Eucharist in the Catholic Church or prepare your child for First Communion see below for how to prepare for this sacrament.
