It is with great pleasure that we provide this important update on our newest ministry, The Porters of St. Joseph. St. Timothy has undertaken efforts to start a new ministry specifically dedicated to the protection and safety of all parishioners, clergy, and staff. This is a men’s volunteer ministry, with the mission to imitate St. Joseph as the Protector of the Holy Church and Pillar of Families. Volunteer Porters (security & safety teams) do this by providing a safe environment at St. Timothy so the faithful can worship God in peace and security. We are building safety and security teams of faithful men who have felt the call to get involved, but have not yet found the opportunity to put their courageous, heroic, masculine heart to the service of our parish, while at the same time, forming a bond of Christian brotherhood with like-minded men. To assist our parish with security efforts, representatives from the Mesa Police Department have conducted a comprehensive site security review and have made specific recommendations for ways to increase security within our church campus. In addition, approximately 45 men volunteered to attend our first Porters training session, which consisted of site security, identifying risks/hazardous situations, conflict resolution, self-defense, special awareness, identification of potential hazardous packages and understanding various Arizona laws relative to safety and security of persons and premises. Please note, if you haven’t already signed up to be a part of this men’s ministry, it’s not too late to join. We will be having more orientation/training sessions in the future. Simply let us know your interest and we will compile a list and announce a date/time.
Furthermore, we are excited to announce, on November 20th, 2024, our Porters will attend training on medical/CPR and will be CPR certified. In addition, St. Timothy Porters uniform shirts have been ordered for our Porter safety/security members, as well as security lanyards which will make Porters easily identifiable to all parishioners.
